Sara Alvarado
Graphics Designer
Sara Alvarado began at Houston Public Media in 2004 as an intern for host and producer Ernie Manouse. She joined the Communications department as the station's graphics designer in 2006. Alvarado wrote for The Houston Chronicle before going on to study print journalism. She went on to contribute articles to The Daily Cougar and Houston Community Newspapers. She gradually found design to be her real passion and won a Lone Star Emmy for her work on the HoustonPBS Spelling Bee in 2009. Alvarado graduated cum laude from the University of Houston with a degree in communication. Her favorite typeface is Franklin Gothic and she visits San Diego every July for Comic-Con International.
