Andrew Schneider

Business News Reporter

Andrew Schneider is KUHF's business news reporter. He comes to Houston Public Radio after eleven years as a print reporter for Kiplinger Washington Editors. As an associate editor for The Kiplinger Letter, he wrote on the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, China's rise as an economic superpower, Russia's tilt toward autocracy, the global financial meltdown and the European debt crisis.

Andrew served on the Speakers Committee of the National Press Club from 2007 through 2010, helping organize newsmaker luncheons for such figures as Billy Joel, Venus Williams, Ken Burns, Dennis Quaid, Condoleezza Rice and Jeff Bridges. He chaired the committee during his final year in Washington and remains an active non-resident member of the club.

Andrew traces his interest in radio back to 1978, when he discovered an LP of the Mercury Theatre on the Air's broadcast of "The War of the Worlds" in the Jericho (N.Y.) Public Library. He earned degrees in history from the University of Chicago and Duke University. His interests outside journalism include reading, creative writing, acting and classic film.
