Ed Mayberry has worked in radio since 1971, with many of those years spent on the rock'n'roll disc jockey side of the business. He spent most of his career in Austin, working as part of a morning show team on album rock station KLBJ-FM, and later as the co-host of a morning show at adult rock station KGSR. Ed also conducted a daily talk show on KLBJ-AM around the time of the first Gulf War, along the way getting a chance to speak with guests such as Steve Allen, Timothy Leary, Tony Randall, Al Gore and others.

Ed has been fortunate enough to meet most of his music heroes during interviews. He's a major Beatles fan, and was able to meet Sir Paul and Linda McCartney, as well as interview Ringo Starr, Yoko Ono, and Julian and Sean Lennon. He often interviewed the late Stevie Ray Vaughan and other Austin musicians, but has also talked with various Rolling Stones, Eric Burdon of the Animals, members of Genesis, Yes, Moody Blues, Fleetwood Mac, Pink Floyd, Stephen Stills, Graham Nash, Carlos Santana, Wavy Gravy, and artists now no longer living such as the late Roy Orbison, Carl Perkins and Johnny Cash.  He's talked to the lady in the blanket on the "Woodstock" album cover. As you can see, interviewing is one of Ed's favorite parts of radio!

Ed moved to Houston in 1999 to work as an anchor at KTRH. In 2001, he joined KUHF first as a business reporter, and is now a general assignments reporter. His work includes the opportunity to produce features that are heard during local breaks in Morning Edition and All Things Considered. Like other KUHF reporters, he regularly contributes spot news about Houston to NPR. Ed will be midday host and news anchor on KUHF when the station completes its transition to dual broadcast signals this year.

Ed has a grown son and daughter and granddaughter, as well as a young son in middle school.
