Carrie Feibel is KUHF's health and science reporter. She comes to Houston Public Radio after ten years as a print reporter.

Carrie was born and raised in St. Louis but moved east to attend Cornell University. After earning a master's in journalism from Columbia University, Carrie reported for news outlets in and around New York City. During a stint at the Associated Press, she reported from Ground Zero after 9/11. She also worked five years at two New Jersey papers, the Herald News of Paterson and The Bergen Record of Hackensack.

Carrie came to Houston in 2007 to cover City Hall for the Chronicle. Here, she weathered her first hurricane, bought some red cowboy boots and learned that a great-great-grandfather settled in San Felipe de Austin in 1839, giving her a tenuous if unexpected connection to the Republic.

Carrie loves to camp, hike and watch movies. She can snowboard blues but not blacks. Her heroes include Ernest Shackleton, Emily Dickinson, Joni Mitchell, Mark Twain, Guy Maddin, Brian Lehrer, Clive James, Cormac McCarthy, David Cross, and T. Herman Zweibel.
