The Harris County Clerk is predicting a smooth day of voting for Election Day tomorrow. About 65,000 people took advantage of early voting, which wrapped up on Friday.

Harris County Clerk Stan Stanart says early voting got off to a slow start, but turnout picked up with each passing day.   Stanart expects the turnout rate for election day to be at least equal, if not be somewhat higher than early voting.  This morning on KUHF, Stanart said the county has completely recovered from last year's fire at a warehouse that destroyed thousands of voting machines.

"As of June, we had replaced every machine.  We actually have a new building we're moving into after the runoffs, in December.  So we're looking forward to having a great new home to be our permanent location."

Last week, it was revealed that the training manuals sent to Harris County election judges erroneously stated that voters will need to present a photo ID to cast their ballots.  The state's voter ID law doesn't take effect until January 1.  Stanart says all training materials have been corrected.

"There won't be any voters that are impacted by this.  Every voter can bring their voter certificate.  And if they don't have that, there's another set of items that they can use to be able to vote.  And that was what was in the manual, and that was what was in the training PowerPoint."
